How do I get started with Information Technology and Innovation?:: Students
Upon enrollment at the university, a MyWestern ID and MyWestern Account are automatically created for you. You will receive your MyWestern ID via USPS mail at your home address. It can likely be found at the top of any confidential documents you receive from registrar or financial aid. Your MyWestern Account username is created the moment you become a registered student but will be made available to you with the assistance of a staffed campus computer lab when you go to create a MyWestern Account password.
*New for Fall 2017: We are piloting a new identity management service. This will allow new students to claim and activate their accounts from anywhere.
Some incoming students will receive invitations to their email inviting them to activate their MyWestern Account. Watch for your invitation from firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not receive an invitation by the end of July please contact the help desk at 203-837-8467 or requestIT@wcsu.edu to activate your MyWestern Account.
Your MyWestern ID is a unique 8-digit number beginning with a "5" and is used by the university in place of your social security number.
Your MyWestern Account Username is used as your identification for the many technology resources you will use during your academic experience. Your username is your last name followed by a 3-digit number. This username will be yours for your entire enrollment duration at WCSU.
Your MyWestern Account password is created with the help of a computer center assistant in any of the staffed computer labs in campus. A temporary one will be issued to you and you will then be asked to log into a university computer to change it to something permanent.
2) WestConnduit (University Portal):
WestConnduit, Western’s campus-wide portal, provides a more streamlined approach to retrieving information. For example, WestConnduit is fully integrated with Banner Student Services which allows students convenient access to their class schedules, grades, unofficial transcripts, and financial aid information.
Furthermore, institutions can personalize portal content to the role, interests, and needs of individual end users. Students, along with receiving campus-wide announcements, receive personalized targeted announcements based on their student role (ex: Psychology major). WestConnduit will also enable students to set up or join groups based on special interest (Debate Society, Chemistry club, etc.). The Group Studio allows group leaders and members to post information and partake in discussions specific to the group.
Ultimately, WestConnduit enables the University to communicate more effectively with students, faculty, and staff. It is an integral part of the University’s plan to consolidate information and create a more unified digital campus.
To login to WestConnduit, use your Western username and password (Windows Username and Password).
If you do not know your Western password, refer to the article on password management.
