Go to https:\/\/remote.wcsu.edu<\/a> to connect to BannerAdmin and WebFocus from home.\u00a0\u00a0You will have to use your university credentials to log in.<\/p>\n

Once logged-in to Western\u2019s Remote Access you will come to the main page.\u00a0\u00a0Your view will vary depending on what you\u2019ve been authorized to use.\u00a0\u00a0Find the section labelled \u201cHTML5 Access Sessions\u201d.<\/p>\n

You will use the w-secinb link to start a Remote Desktop session for BannerAdmin, WebFocus, or other web-based application which is behind the WCSU firewall.<\/p>\n

To start a Remote Desktop session from a computer:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Choose the w-secinb link from the \u201cHTML5\u201d section:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 \u00a0Confirm the Appropriate Use Policy message by selecting OK.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

a)\u00a0 Enter your current WCSU username and password, then press enter<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0After your credentials are accepted, the Remote Desktop window will apply your profile to your session. Once completed, you will see something like the desktop pictured below. Your view may be slightly different<\/p>\n

a)\u00a0 If a browser window automatically opens, close it so that you can see the desktop inside of the Remote Desktop window.<\/p>\n

b)\u00a0 To connect to BannerAdmin, open the Chrome shortcut labelled \u201cBannerAdmin 9\u201d<\/p>\n

c)\u00a0 To connect to WebFocus or any other WCSU web-based application that is not normally available from off campus, open the Chrome shortcut labelled \u201cGoogle Chrome\u201d<\/p>\n

i.\u00a0 You will need to enter the URL of the web-based application yourself.<\/p>\n

ii.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t see a Google Chrome shortcut, you can use the Start menu\u00a0 in the Remote Desktop to open Chrome, or other browser of your choosing<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 d)\u00a0 If you see an IE shortcut labelled \u201cBanner INB\u201d, do not use it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Continue with BannerAdmin, WebFocus, or other web-based applications as usual.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0i.\u00a0 The Remote Desktop window will automatically lock if idle for more than 10 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0To unlock:<\/p>\n

ii.\u00a0 Click inside the Remote Desktop Window<\/p>\n

iii.\u00a0 Use CTRL-ALT-DELETE and re-enter your password as you would do if this happened on your campus workstation.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0When you are finished, close your session<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0 Click inside the Remote Desktop window. Unlock it if necessary<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0 Open the Start button in the Remote Desktop, then find and choose Log Off.<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0 Sign out of your https:\/\/remote.wcsu.edu<\/a> window<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0After your Remote Desktop session is closed, you can choose to return to the https:\/\/remote.wcsu.edu<\/a>\u00a0home, reconnect to the Remote Desktop, or sign out of\u00a0https:\/\/remote.wcsu.edu<\/a> by clicking the door in the\u00a0top right<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
